Seen it, liked it, got the T-Shirt!

Do you remember when I wrote about a baby crocodile? Well, he's actually a 'crocogator' - a half breed alligator crocodile.
Anyway, someone wrote to me and asked to buy him so I packaged him up and he ships to his new home today. So long little pal...

Here are some parting photos of him since (if you read this recent post) you may know that I lost all my photos, including photos of him.

In other news.... GUESS WHAT?!

If you like my photography and designs, you can now buy various products which show it off, such as posters, travel mugs and tote bags! It's all here at my new Red Bubble shop! Here's a snapshot of what's on offer, but there's so much more.

And as for this coming Christmas... you may recall that in 2012 (when I was living in New Zealand) I created something special for a Pixie Dust Miniatures Christmas. It was a magical snowy village of candy gingerbread houses. Since (as detailed in the recent blog post I mentioned) I lost all high rez photos of this work, I am steadily re-building my portfolio, and will be creating something similar, but cooler, this year! Stay tuned for that... :)

And don't forget to show your support for Pixie Dust Miniatures by liking on Facebook or on Instagram! Each 'like' counts and means a lot!

Toads and Snails in Print

Hello everyone!
Gosh, what a lot of travelling I have done this year! I have neglected Pixie Dust Miniatures over the past couple of months as I was away in China and then France. But, I'm back, orders are rolling in, the online Pixie Dust Miniatures shop is open and you're welcome to email me to make any request you like.

Today I was asked to make a pink warty cane toad for someone and I'm delighted to do this as I've never done it before. I'll show photos of my workspace when I get going on it.

Don't forget that my snails and toads are all available for sale at my online Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop here.

That brings me to today's topic.... toads and snails in print! I am delighted to have a mention and some photos in 'The Dolls House Magazine' this month (June issue) and I have put the little feature all about gardening below. You can find a copy of this great UK magazine here.

NEW Warty Cane Toads

Yesterday I wrote a bit about making my new toads, and today they're available for sale at my Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop.

Originally inspired by the singing warty cane toads in 'Harry Potter'!

Handmade by myself; they come in green or brown and have cute little faces, warty textures and are approx 1.5 cm (5/8") in length.
So, find your toads here....!

I've had several emails lately requesting custom miniatures / jewelry but, although I hate to disappoint people, I am afraid I do have to turn many down for the time being due to my busy schedule working on my short film (details here). Thank you for your understanding in this. :)

NOTE: I made a mistake in saying the toad coupon for 50% off was still valid. I just realised that this particular coupon has expired, so my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. All toads ordered up until now have had the discount honoured and been given a partial PayPal refund.

My Workspace - Designing the new Toads

What's small, warty and takes up faaaaaar too much of my time...?!!

You may have noticed that I haven't blogged for ages... I explain why - just scroll down to the 'Shop Announcement' below.

In the meantime, here are some newly designed warty cane toads I have been making in green and brown. I started by doing a quick watercolour painting as a plan and then softened lots of clay and used the painting as a rough guide. These new toads have cute faces and adorable expressions. Each one is handmade by myself to a high standard and they are 15% smaller than my 'Fairytale Toads'.

I'll make these new little toads available at my Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop soon, and I'll offer the same toad discount (info on the toad discount here) - this discount expires at the end of this month (Feb 2014).

SHOP ANNOUNCEMENT.........................................................
As many of you know, I work in the film industry in Hollywood and my company 'Tall Tales Productions' is making its first short film which is made using miniature scale sets and hand-sculpted miniature characters - all of this arty side is being done by myself. So, lately I have had to put a lot more time into this and I am afraid that for most of this year Pixie Dust Miniatures (and my other brand) will have to take a back seat...
I will still list new minis every so often and your orders will still be sent out with speed.. and you can expect good customer service if you have any questions. However, I wont be blogging quite as much or working on as many new ranges or taking many custom requests. (If you have a very urgent custom request then go ahead and email me here and I'll see what I can do!) :)

If you want to follow my progress as I make my short film and stay connected to my work then please find the Tall Tales Facebook page here and 'like'!

Also, look out for my book 'The Art of Pixie Dust Miniatures' which is set to be out later this year (pushed back from Spring release).

Somewhere over the rainbow... there are magically coloured toads...

I've just listed the last of my Fairytale Cane Toads which were actually made (by myself) in 2011 but I've only just made them available for purchase at my Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop. I photographed them yesterday and they're ready to enter your own magical / spooky / witchy miniature homes.

To celebrate 2014 and a year I will be creating all sorts of new magical and unique ranges, I have created a special COUPON CODE which allows you to receive half off (yes a whopping 50% off) your toads.

COUPON CODE INFO...

- To get the coupon code just click here - and you will be taken to the miniature film company 'Tall Tales Productions' Facebook page where you will find the coupon code to use.

- Just click to buy a toad and then enter the coupon code before you pay and $42.50 will be deducted from the price of the toad (that's half off your toad)!. This offer will expire soon - so get your toads whilst this promotion is running!

NEW Tiger Snail

Good grief - I just checked messages sent directly to me at my Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop and gather people are concerned that I've fallen off the edge of the world / been swallowed up by a giant sea monster. Nope - I'm here! Sorry for seemingly disappearing throughout most of January. I have been busily working on a giant commission for a customer in Paris and will blog about that in a day or two. (Or stay ahead of what I get up to outside Pixie Dust Miniatures by following me here on Facebook).

Anyway - fun news - I have a NEW special miniature snail for you. This is a 'tiger snail' and you can see him below perched on the tip of my finger, and variations of him baked onto cupcakes below as well. Available now as a Limited Edition at my Pixie Dust Miniatures SHOP here... ;)

You're a Rotter, Mr Grinch!

Not having grown up in America, I only discovered 'the Grinch' (a peculiar green creature who steals Christmas - created by Dr Seuss) at the recent age of 29. I only actually watched the cartoon this festive season! Good thing too as I needed to create a winter wonderland this Christmas and a hand-sculpted rendition of the 'rotter' in question.

Here's my Grinch... he's absolutely not spot-on but he's okay for a first draft. Not that a second draft is on the cards - this was a quick make which I did in a couple of hours a few days before I caught my flight out of New Zealand.

He's one inch scale, as is the candy gingerbread village display which he is disrupting.

Shop News!............................................................................

Pixie Dust Miniatures has re-opened after a few days closure whilst I packed up my entire apartment and workshop and left New Zealand (after a 5 month stay there). You can find my online shop here.

Thank you for your patience whilst I took a little longer to re-open than planned. The 30 hour flight (pausing in Auckland and then Hong Kong along the way) was fine but on arrival in Heathrow, London, I found that one of the large suitcases containing my miniatures, tools and craft supplies had split right open and there was a gaping hole in it! All's fine now and the airline even sent me a brand new suitcase.

New Christmas miniatures will be made available in store very soon, I promise.

Please also note that Pixie Dust Miniatures will be stationed in the UK for a few weeks and then returning to California, USA after that. :)

A Posse of Possums

Do you remember when I mentioned an unusual commission for two one inch scale possums toasting marshmallows on sticks for a client's campfire diorama? I blogged about making them here just a couple of weeks back. Thought you might like to see the finished possums just before I glued their marshmallow sticks to their little paws.

It's November now and I'm starting to think about Christmas.....! There's a lot more Christmasiness happening at my other blog, but there'll definitely be some Christmas themed miniatures coming here soon also, so stay tuned!

On another note, I am currently still in Wellington New Zealand, and I leave in just under 2 weeks to fly back to the UK and then in the first week of Dec I'll fly back to the US. So my shops will have to close here and there (I'll give notice at the time). If there's anything you had your eye on that you definitely want in time for Christmas then you might want to make your purchases from my online Pixie Dust Miniatures shop before I leave NZ just to be safe. I don't want to see anyone disappointed! :)
