Christmas Preview and Shop Announcement

Hope you're all wrapped up warm and starting to feel the Christmas buzz...
I'm currently in New Zealand and it's technically the end of their spring / start of summer, so it doesn't exactly feel like Christmas is coming any time soon for me!

Above is a glimpse at some of my new Christmas Range for 2012. This is my gingerbread candy village and as you might have guessed there will be magical and whimsical gingerbread houses available in all shapes and sizes. Everything (including all cane candy) is made by me.

I am flying out of New Zealand in just less than 4 day's time and arriving in London Heathrow, UK on Wednesday 21st November. This means that I will have to close my shop for a couple of days whilst I fly. If you pick up a copy of the US magazine 'Dollhouse Miniatures' then you'll find a patisserie I made last Feb on the cover (note this is one of my Hummingbird Miniatures products, not Pixie Dust). It's a September 2012 issue and is out now.

From Paper to Clay...!

That's where it all started... on paper. As many of you know I wrote and illustrated a children's book in 2003-4 straight after I graduated from uni, and it was all about magic and fantasy. It's not published yet though - my literary agent is working on that. ;)

Anyway, when I started Pixie Dust Miniatures I wasn't so much pulling my ideas from my head as I was from my own illustrations (well there are over 300 of them, so it's a lot to work with).

Thought you might find it fun to see some of these illustrations as a before and after, alongside their clay counterparts. Bear in mind I can't put too many illustrations online as the book is still in talks with various publishers so I'm not supposed to go crazy sharing it all on here! And also so darn many illustrations are in England - including a dragon egg identification chart and some enchanted pumpkins which would have been fun to share. But you can still see some fun things. For example, recognise the purple quill in the above image....?!
