A Wizardly New Year

Happy New Year all my fabulous followers of miniature magic!!

It's 2014 and there's a lot of exciting things to come this year. Look out for my first Pixie Dust Miniatures book which will be out this spring.
It features dozens and dozens of full colour miniature scene photographs, insights into my miniature creations including the behind the scenes photography, a couple of tutorials (with my most secret techniques revealed) and running commentary about the life of me, Caroline - the miniaturist behind Pixie Dust Miniatures.

Besides the book, I am starting the year with a new Wizard Range - including these chamber candles. They're absolutely tiny (1:12 scale) and my favourite candles to date.

I'll also spend much of this year working on the film 'Myrtle the Witch' (a short film which is shot entirely on miniature scale sets and using hand-sculpted miniature characters) - find out more about this and stay connected at the Tall Tales Productions Facebook page here.

My Workspace... Poison bottles...

Getting ready for the Tom Bishop Miniature Fair which is later this month (30th July) in Anaheim... been so busy all day! I've made dozens and dozens of little poison bottles and thought I'd share some snaps with you. I've also started making another 100 'old dripping candles' since they always seem to be really popular and I've had people requesting them through my store lately.

1:24 Scale (Half Inch Scale) Old Dripping Candles

If you're not too tired of hearing me talk about candles (!!) then have a look at my new Old Dripping Candles range in 1:24 (half inch scale).

For those that are unsure, 1:24 scale / half inch scale means that half an inch = a foot in real life.

My tallest candle is 1.3 cm and smallest is 0.5 cm in height.

My Workspace - Making Candles...

Hi everybody,
It's been all about candles lately. I made 50 in 1:12 scale and 50 in 1:24 scale!

Took a few snaps along the way because I thought people might like to see some unposed photos outside my dollhouse castle set!

I'll start listing Harry Potter inspired dollhouse miniatures in 1:24 scale (half inch) on Etsy soon. As always feel free to email me should you want anything sooner!

Candles, Candles, Candles

Finally! I took inspiration from the wonderful old classic horror films like Bella Lugosi's 'Dracula', Lon Chaney Jnr's 'Wolf Man' and Boris Karloff's 'Frankenstein'! I loved making them. People have been asking for a tutorial so I'll try and get one up in the next few weeks if I get time. I've also been asked to do candles with faces in the same vein as my children's book 'The Hidden World' which has faces on just about everything in each illustration! So I'll get around to that too.
