These eggs were difficult to acquire and with careful incubation our hope is to hatch the goslings and potentially corner the market on golden eggs in the future. Grinny Pumpkin Cauldrons for Halloween!

I am really pleased with how these turned out, and because I think they're quite unique. One inch scale, and they're hollowed out pumpkins with spooky faces and 'wrought iron' handles - making them great little cauldrons for trick or treating or holding spooky things. Fairytale Pumpkins

These magical Fairytale Pumpkins look like they're straight off the pages of Cinderella, but you could use them in your Halloween setting. They're more ethereal and magical than spooky though. I got the idea for them when I saw these gorgeous unusual pumpkins in Trader Joes (American supermarket ~ for my non US friends) being sold there as 'Fairytale pumpkins'! See my bad mobile phone photo at the end of the post. Fun right?!

Each one is an unusual fantastical shape, with twisty stem and brushed with shimmering gold and other mixed media to make them look quite magical. They actually look better in real life than in the photos. I'm reluctantly (my bf's making me!) selling these as two sets at my online shop.

From Paper to Clay...!

That's where it all started... on paper. As many of you know I wrote and illustrated a children's book in 2003-4 straight after I graduated from uni, and it was all about magic and fantasy. It's not published yet though - my literary agent is working on that. ;)

Anyway, when I started Pixie Dust Miniatures I wasn't so much pulling my ideas from my head as I was from my own illustrations (well there are over 300 of them, so it's a lot to work with).

Thought you might find it fun to see some of these illustrations as a before and after, alongside their clay counterparts. Bear in mind I can't put too many illustrations online as the book is still in talks with various publishers so I'm not supposed to go crazy sharing it all on here! And also so darn many illustrations are in England - including a dragon egg identification chart and some enchanted pumpkins which would have been fun to share. But you can still see some fun things. For example, recognise the purple quill in the above image....?!

Good Grief!

... is all I can say! I made it to the front page of Etsy (only the second time it's happened, so it's quite exciting for me!) and suddenly was inundated with sales of Poison Bottles and requests for more poison bottles! Best sales I've had all week! Thank you Etsy and fabulous treasury makers everywhere. :)
