My Workspace - Making Toads...

I was up late yesterday making lots of little Cane Toads in 1:12 scale for Pixie Dust Miniatures because I've had so many requests for them from 'Harry Potter' collecters. So I thought I'd snap a few pictures of them during the process. They look kind of fun without their colour. I use a very translucent clay for these toads so that they have that thin skin slimy look that real Cane toads have.

They take hours to make, but I love making them! I've been commissioned to make some in 1:24 scale, so I'll share these with you before I sell them. :)

Horrible photos, I know! I hate taking photos under artificial light...

Poison Apple Pie

I was inspired by Disney's 'Snow White' when I made these Poison Apple Pies! They're pretty cute and have quite a bit of detail in the pastry on top. 1:12 scale in polymer clay.

Hope you like it!

A Ghoulish Feast

Hallowe'en has firmly arrived at Pixie Dust Miniatures! I've listed every item on Etsy now and have moved on from this holiday to prepare for a mini Thanksgiving. :) Certainly was fun coming up with a Pixie Dust Hallowe'en range, and looking at other peoples' fantastic varied and different takes on Hallowe'en in the world of mini.

Here's the Ghoulish Feast I put together with all my Hallowe'en items 2010. Scroll down past the pcitures and there's a video.
Hope you like it. :)

Good Luck Fairy

It's my mum's birthday coming up so I made her a tiny little Good Luck Fairy in a bottle!
The fairy has silk thread hair, a tiny face, green dress and fantasy film wings. It's 1:12 scale and the fairy glows in the dark. Haven't got any glowing photos to show you because I need the tripod to take photos in the dark and didn't get a chance to do that, but I'll be making more of these Good Luck Fairies for sale on my store and will have glow-in-the-dark photos by then. :)

I also made her a Hummingbird Miniatures cake which you can see here.

Hope you like it.
Mini hugs,

Cracked Crockery

I made some Cracked Crockery or Witches Dishes to use when I did my Pixie Dust Miniatures Halloween feast photo shoot. Lots of fun to make. They're ceramic dishes which I painted and textured with three kinds of paint. 1:12 scale and soon available on Etsy. :)

Candles, Candles, Candles

Finally! I took inspiration from the wonderful old classic horror films like Bella Lugosi's 'Dracula', Lon Chaney Jnr's 'Wolf Man' and Boris Karloff's 'Frankenstein'! I loved making them. People have been asking for a tutorial so I'll try and get one up in the next few weeks if I get time. I've also been asked to do candles with faces in the same vein as my children's book 'The Hidden World' which has faces on just about everything in each illustration! So I'll get around to that too.
