Potted Toadstools

Wondering where I've been?! I'll write a full blog post all about my adventures and creations over at Tall Tales Productions soon.... but before that, know that I'm back, and plan to update this blog far more frequently!

And guess what?! I have some really detailed little potted toadstools now available for sale! You can find them both at my main website (here) and also over at the Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop!

Pick yours up today!

Enjoy the photos below, including glimpses of my work space so that you can see behind the scenes. I made everything, including the flower pots myself - all by hand, so molds. Every little dot on each toadstool applied by me using a needle!

And there's a fun little video here at the Pixie Dust Miniatures YouTube channel! Subscribe!

Enchanted Forest in the Making...

What kind of miniature magic is happening over in the workshop of Pixie Dust Miniatures, you may wonder.....

This week I have been building an enchanted forest, complete with toadstools, fairy rings, bluebells, and soon there will be trees with faces as well! Take a look at a few snaps below, but for more information on this miniature project, don't forget to follow my 'Caroline blog' and the Facebook page here.

Must give a 'shout out' to the talented Georgina Steed, as it was her miniature flower kit I used to make the bluebells. They are in 1:12 scale (as is the rest of this miniature set piece).

Broom Broom...!

What's your means of transport? A gas-guzzling automobile? That simply will not do in our age - why not upgrade to something a little more eco-friendly?

These artisan handmade miniature brooms are in one inch scale (so I am afraid the weight limit for riders is about 2 lbs). Great for your miniature witch or wizard and good for the environment. Cheap to run too.

From the woodshops of famed broomstick-making witches... Pixie Dust Miniatures brings you brooms of every variety from 'Hilda Brickleback Brooms Ltd.' and 'Faustina Fiddlesticks Brooms Co.'

They come in polished willow wood / silver birch / dark-stained woods, with pale bristles / dark bristles / neat-cut bristles and bristles cut to a point for faster flight. They also come tied with gold threads and silk threads of every colour.

Each one is OOAK (one of a kind) so if you want something unique of your very own then look no further than the online Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop for your own miniature broom.

Don't forget to find us on Facebook if you like my work!

Sorting through my Hats!

Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin... which Hogwart house will you be sorted into? Find out by purchasing a Sorting Hat from me, handmade in one inch scale.

I don't usually make 'Harry Potter' themed miniatures, preferring to make miniatures based on my own characters, such as 'Myrtle the Witch', but I started making a limited run of these for a fantasy fair here in LA and they've been so popular!

I'm making a couple more for my Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop so if you're a Harry Potter fan then how about a perfectly tiny little Sorting Hat in miniature?!

Elixir of Life Potions

Ever craved the secret to eternal youth, immortality? Mystics, necromancers and sorcerers from East and West claim to have found the key, the mysterious water which grants immortality to the drinker. It was a French wizard by the name of Nicholas Flamel who reputedly created the Elixir of Life.

And now at only $8 a bottle (for a limited time), you too can own it!
Find my 'Elixir of Life' potion bottles over at my Pixie Dust Miniatures online store. It's made by myself in one inch scale and a great way to fill those cupboards and tables in your miniature fantasy scene. They really sparkle in natural sunlight and cast tiny rainbows around them - difficult to photograph, but take my word for it.

You can also see them in the making (blogged about here) at my workspace. As always, email me or comment on the blog if there's anything you'd like to see in the making and I'll remember to take photos next time I'm working on it.

* These Elixir of Life bottles do not really provide eternal life. They are decorative and do not hold liquid. *

The Pixie has Landed

Hello everyone,
Yes I know... it's been absolutely ages since you heard from me and my online Pixie Dust Miniatures shop remains closed at this time... sorry!

As you probably know, I had to close this shop (and other shop) for a few weeks whilst I had the messy move from NZ to UK to US with plenty of Embassy meetings, packing, flying and landing going on around this time. Well... the Pixie has landed!

So, please note that Pixie Dust Miniatures is back in Los Angeles, California and will be re-opening in just a few more days (keep your eye on this blog, or the shop or on the Facebook page so you know when) and I'll be launching some fun new miniature magic ranges, furniture, a free-to-enter competition and a new coupon to apologize for my absence!

As usual, feel free to email me if you have any questions!
Warmest wishes, Caroline

Potting Magic in the Garden....

Got green fingers? So how about a spot of magical gardening? These potted toadstools have already been grown for you in terracotta pots, so you can simply keep them on your kitchen windowsill for cooking with, pop them in a shelf in the dampest part of your potting shed or re-plant them at the bottom of the garden.

One inch scale and handcrafted by me to a high standard... these potted toadstools are now available at my online Pixie Dust Miniatures store.

Interested in how they were made? I wrote a blog post whilst these were being made with photos of the works in progress. You can check it out here.

Going Batty this Halloween!

Let's kick off Halloween 2012 with some battiness!
These are my adorable little spooky bats for Halloween season.... entirely handmade by me without the use of molds in one inch scale and with massive attention to detail (not to mention patience!)

I made several of these bats and each has a tiny little detailed face with a cute facial expression. You can see the eyes, nose, mouth and tiny floppy ears. They have fluffy soft little bodies and open wings which you can glue closed around them if you like (the wings are flexible enough to be posed). They also have little wire legs which means you can push them into furniture / a tree branch to have them hang upside down. I recommend attaching them to ceilings / furniture with tacky glue.

I'm keeping some back for myself (for my short film project 'Myrtle the Witch' - details here) so I won't list all of them. However, you can find some at my online Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop here.

Don't miss the ones in 'extra small' size too.

Interested in how these bats were made? I blogged about it here a month ago... :)
