As many of you know, I am English and live in California - so I was not brought up with Thanksgiving. Instead, in Britain, we had the Harvest Festival and of course our biggest November event is Guy Fawkes Night (or Bonfire Night). Today was my 4th Thanksgiving, but the very first time I have roasted my own turkey for the occasion. I took a photo and included it in this post (lame - yes, definitely!)

Elves and Gingerbread - a COMPETITION

My work station was getting a bit messy as I have been so hectic creating Christmas items for my other blog and so forth. I enlisted the help of my Christmas elves to try to create some order... they're not too bad at putting paperclips away but that was about it.

Anyway - some of these elves are available for sale at my online Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop, and so are the cute little whimsical candy gingerbread houses.
A lot of you love the elves and only 3 are left (the rest sold out), so I thought I would let one of these cute little guys be the prize in another competition......!

How to have a *better* chance of winning...!

Get a friend to follow the rules and enter, and your name will be entered into the draw another time (doubling your chances of winning). Just make sure that your friend mentions in their post that they were forwarded by you (or leave me a message so that I know).

Every friend you get to enter the competition gets you entered another time. So if you get 20 friends to enter, then you'd be entered in a total of 21 times!

Merry Christmas & Jan Sales!

Merry Christmas to all my friends, fans and customers!

Contrary to initial plans, I spent Christmas in England instead of America. My plans are now to head back to Los Angeles within early January (if visa plans hold up). :)

So, I had the most wonderful Christmas at home with my incredibly large (and expanding) family. We started the day with champagne, devils on horsebacks and quail eggs with Cornish sea salt. Then my mum made a 26 lb turkey with homemade traditional apple and pork stuffing, chipolatas, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, roast carrots, Brussels sprouts and amazing gravy. We pulledcrackers, doused the pudding with brandy and lit it ablaze and had it with double cream and brandy butter. Later on we ate mince pies with mulled wine. The following day (Boxing Day) my mum made lobster thermidor as an hors d' oeurve followed by 3 roast ducks between 11 of us with braised red cabbage, mashed swede, English peas, apple sauce and again - phenomenal gravy. We finished with trifle and chocolate roulade. 

Okay - so out of my non-British friends - how much of the above did you understand? Come on, be honest - not much, right?! I provided links with definitions to some of the above I thought my non-British / non-European friends might not be familiar with.

Moving house... BLOW OUT SALE!!!

It's confirmed... leaving for New Zealand for 5 months whilst I await my new visa which will finally allow me back into the States.

Now I hate packing as much as the next person, and I especially hate packing up miniatures as each one has to be packed so carefully, it takes ages, and I always have to have them on my lap on the plane as carry-on.
