Happy Halloween 2012!

Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween! Hope you all have fabulous plans for tonight and fabulous costumes.
As many of you know, I am living in New Zealand for a few months (leaving next month on November 20th) so we're a day and a half ahead of you in America, and 12 hours ahead of the UK. I've already celebrated Halloween dressed as a pirate wench at a Weta Halloween party!

Thank you to those of you that used the exclusive Halloween coupon code advertised in The Dolls' House Magazine this month. Hope you enjoyed your 25% off coupon. And thank you to all that took advantage of the discount mentioned on my Pixie Dust Miniatures Facebook page (see page here). Glad to see so many of you jumped on this also. :)

Don't miss all the Christmas wonders coming very soon to this blog and of course to my Pixie Dust Miniatures online shop...

Potting Magic in the Garden....

Got green fingers? So how about a spot of magical gardening? These potted toadstools have already been grown for you in terracotta pots, so you can simply keep them on your kitchen windowsill for cooking with, pop them in a shelf in the dampest part of your potting shed or re-plant them at the bottom of the garden.

One inch scale and handcrafted by me to a high standard... these potted toadstools are now available at my online Pixie Dust Miniatures store.

Interested in how they were made? I wrote a blog post whilst these were being made with photos of the works in progress. You can check it out here.

Jack O Stack Lanterns!

Have you seen the Jack O Stack Lanterns ® I've created especially for Halloween 2012? I made one set in one inch scale, and another a little smaller which could work in either a one inch or a half inch scale setting.

Entirely handmade by me without molds of course.... they have faces quite different to what I usually do when I make Jack O Lanterns, and funny smiles.

Available at my online Pixie Dust Miniatures shop and at a great price in the lead up to spooky time.... ;)

My Workspace - Making Possums!

Recently I had such a fun commission from a miniature collector. She asked for a couple of one inch scale (1:12 scale) opossums sitting down toasting marshmallows for her diorama. I was happy to take the commission on because it's such a fun and original idea. They would measure just less than 2 inches from head to end of tail if they were standing upright. They have soft downy bodies.

Here are some pictures of my progress (un-posed in my workspace sitting on my iPhone). The possums are  finished but I haven't make the little sticks with marshmallows yet... will do this soon and post finished photos for you to see. As always, feel free to comment or ask questions. :)

Kooky Jack O Lanterns

Are you counting down to Halloween.....?! It's my favourite time of year - the time to dust off your conical hat, prize your broom from the cobwebs and heat the cauldron.... or failing that, hop over to my online Pixie Dust Miniatures shop and indulge in some mini purchasing. ;)

I have just made available some 'kooky' jack o' lanterns.... they're cute 'carved' pumpkins with kooky smiles, funny eyes and curly wirly stems. I've made them with a lot of careful detail and no molds of course, to my own designs. As we're sooooo close to Halloween I am listing all my Halloween 2012 Range much cheaper than it would be in the hope that I clear stock before Halloween is over.

NEWSFLASH Did you know I sometimes put coupon codes for my shop on my Facebook fan page? There's one going at the moment. Click over and become a fan of Pixie Dust Miniatures on Facebook HERE and keep ahead of the discounts.

Spooky shopping!

Mossy Fairy Baskets

For the foraging witch (who doesn't like to forage?) I've made these little mossy 'fairy' baskets. I call them fairy baskets because they look like something out of a fairy tale to me, but I think they'd work well for witchy / Harry Potter / wizardy type settings too. Could be good for Halloween?!

These baskets were entirely made by me (I didn't dress some else's basket base) and I lined them with moss and some of them have ivy growing up and around the handles. They come in 2 different sizes. Fill them with toadstools / poison apples or unicorn horns! I'll have them already filled with such things at my shop also.

One inch scale and will be available at my online Pixie Dust Miniatures shop soon....

Interested in seeing them as works in progress? I blogged about them with unicorn horns in my 'workspace' blog post here back at the beginning of Sept.... I know - I'm super slow getting things finished, photographed and listed lately. Sorry! Completed unicorn horns are coming too, honestly. ;)

Going Batty this Halloween!

Let's kick off Halloween 2012 with some battiness!
These are my adorable little spooky bats for Halloween season.... entirely handmade by me without the use of molds in one inch scale and with massive attention to detail (not to mention patience!)

I made several of these bats and each has a tiny little detailed face with a cute facial expression. You can see the eyes, nose, mouth and tiny floppy ears. They have fluffy soft little bodies and open wings which you can glue closed around them if you like (the wings are flexible enough to be posed). They also have little wire legs which means you can push them into furniture / a tree branch to have them hang upside down. I recommend attaching them to ceilings / furniture with tacky glue.

I'm keeping some back for myself (for my short film project 'Myrtle the Witch' - details here) so I won't list all of them. However, you can find some at my online Pixie Dust Miniatures Etsy shop here.

Don't miss the ones in 'extra small' size too.

Interested in how these bats were made? I blogged about it here a month ago... :)
